It can be argued that The Dark Knight is the best superhero movie ever made, not only for so-called fanboys, but for the general movie-goer as well. While some praise it as being a fantastic movie, there are others who see gaping holes in logic found throughout the film. From a story standpoint there are no plot holes, and what some may see as plot holes; they are either nitpicking, or not paying attention.
So lets talk about plot holes, and what constitutes a plot hole. A plot hole is essentially a flaw or gap in logic that goes against the plot of the story. While each story has its own established logic, it would be unfair to base the logic established in The Dark Knight to reality, or to another movie. Hence the term “plot hole” a hole in the plot considering the logic the movie establishes, not holes in the plot when compared to reality. There is also something called “fridge logic” fridge logic is a logic gap or leap in a movie that doesn’t become readily apparent until after the film is over, and the audience takes in the overall plot. While fridge logic can be applied to many movies it doesn’t take away from the enjoyment or make the movie any less enjoyable because of it. So lets get down to dissecting the plot of The Dark Knight and see if any claims of plot holes are fair assessments; or if they are nit-picking on inconsistencies that are irrelevant to the plot.
